Blogging Platform Tips For Maximizing Your Site Visiblility

Choosing which blogging platform to use is one of the most important decisions that you can make as a blogger. The right platform can make blogging a breeze, and the wrong platform can really be a pain in the neck.Because the program that you use to blog with is such a powerful part of your blogging experience, it is important to find a platform that provides your ideal balance between a user-friendly interface and a flexible framework that allows you to make your blog look and feel unique.

You will also make sure you have access to all the great features that can make your blog popular, such as RSS feeds. Finding the right platform isn't always easy, but with a little bit of research, you will be on your way to finding the perfect blogging platform that suits your needs.

Deciding what your priorities are in terms of ease of use versus customization and features. Most highly customizable blogging platforms, like moveable type, are a bit more difficult to use than very automated platforms like Wordpress.com or Blogger.com. If you are new to blogs and to internet technology, you might want to sacrifice the ability to create a custom background design or to integrate a unique font into your template in order to find a program that will be easy for you to work with.

On the other hand, if you are a veteran web designer with knowledge of html or javascript, you will probably find the limitations of a user-friendly platform annoying.

There is no such thing as a blogging platform that is objectively the best platform, because every blogger has unique needs. The blogging movement is very much about individuality, so it makes plenty of sense that there would be many different platforms available that are designed to meet the needs of different kinds of individuals undertaking different kinds of projects to express their unique voice.

This diversity is a good thing, because it means that you will almost certainly be able to find a program that suits your level of technical expertise.

However, the fact that no two bloggers need the same thing from a blogging platform can make your search for the right platform a painful task. When you are reading reviews of different platforms, try to keep in mind the reviewers point of view and the features you really need.

For example, a negative review written by an accomplished software designer who complains that a popular platform is too limited may tell you that the platform in question is ideal for a beginning blogger.

There is no such thing as the perfect platform for everybody, so instead of looking for the "best" platform, look for the best platform for your specific criteria. If you are starting and do not want the hassle of web hosting right now, you can use www.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com. Later, if you want to host your blog, you have the option to easily do it.

Good Online Shopping Advise

If accepting payments, as far as the check out, most merchant accounts (electronic gateways) provide an API to integrate into your shopping cart. This API will help to verify the credit card. A third party processor basically has a merchant account issued to them and they allow you to use it. Usually the payout is every couple of weeks. There might be no charge on the set up and the discount rate is usually a bit higher than a regular merchant account.

An electronic payment gateway is basically the same thing as the point of sale terminal at the grocery store. As far as search engines; each company has their own algorithm to determine placement. A long time ago, they went by the META tags, but those are hardly used anymore because that was abuse. Now it goes by the title, heading, and content. If you would like to learn more about that kind of things then you can go to a different site and ask them or read about it.

You can go all over the Internet and see all kinds of things that you that might cost a lot more in store then on the net. Some times it is a lot better that you go on line then to the store. But that is just what I have heard from a lot of my friends and family. They say that they find things on the net that would cost them a lot of money if you go to the store.

It depends on where you are buying it. Some companies also accept Pay pal but most accept credit card orders. Some, you can e-mail them and ask them for an address to send a check. Unfortunately, there is not too much you can do about the shipping. But every company is different. Find the book you want & then do a search for that book to see what others charge.

There are tens of so-called coupon websites that track discount coupons, sales and rebates. Have a look on what has been selected as the best by human experts. Most coupon websites are affiliated with online merchants and are paid by merchants per sale (pay-for-performance) or are paid by merchants for impressions or clicks (pay-per-click).

In any case they are obliged to follow merchant's promotion policy. It means they show discount coupons and sales merchants have issued for them especially. There are other special promotions merchants offer to their newsletter subscribers only. There are special promotions merchants offer to online visitors only.

Online merchants operate 24x7 and worldwide. They don't offer few hours huge savings or closing up savings (for 4 years of my extensive shopping experience I have not seen such a case). From time to time they offer one day special saving (Friday sales, for example). Are there really huge savings? Yes they are. I personally bought many items 50-60% cheaper than regular price and 10-15% cheaper than on auctions. The scheme is as follows: you find merchants that have the item you are looking for on their shelves and then find discount coupons for that merchants.

Where to find discount coupons depends on your goals. The common disadvantage of near the all coupon websites is their inability to point the exact merchant for the keywords you are looking for (though some of them, uses keywords to describe deals). It means that coupon websites are good to answer if the specific merchant has discount coupon for the moment, and they are not so good to answer where to find the item with the best price.

You should always search the web site first and try all the words that you might think the item that you are looking for is under. If you find it make sure that you check the price and how long it will take for them to get it to you. That way you know about when to expert it in the mail. If you would like more information of the item you can email the web master or the person that is selling it. You should always do your homework on the item that you wish to buy or look over the web site and see what you think about it, ask question and see what they have to say.

PLR Content Articles Provide Cheap Quality Web Content

Buying PLR content articles is quickly turning into the fastest and simplest way to purchase content for a site. In searching for information, have you ever come across a site that had such poorly written content that he site immediately became less credible? Probably. I know I’ve seen it more than I care to. When this happens it turns a useful site into a freak show. It makes you wonder why site owners aren’t investing in some decent web content instead of trying to write it themselves or outsourcing it to people who speak English as a third language. There are some site owners who simply can’t afford to buy original content from a web content writer, and that is understandable. Paying very little for original content is a guarantee that it won’t be any good. Paying $20 per article can be expensive. You get high-quality web content at that price, but the price tag can add up to a lot.

For those who can’t afford to buy good, original content, there is PLR content. It can be just as good, depending on the writer, and it’s much, much cheaper. By buying a set of PLR articles, there’s no waiting period while the articles are being written and there’s no going into debt to get it done. It should be possible to find PLR articles in your specific topic, or you may decide to create a site around the PLR content that you do find. PLR content articles can be used to populate blogs and websites of all descriptions. These articles are typically sold a certain number of times and are then discontinued from the PLR site.

However, the number of times that a PLR article is sold, even if it is hundreds of times, will not make it likely that anyone searching for the keywords will find the articles more than once. One reason is that the articles will not all be use for the same types of websites. One more reason is that everyone who buys the articles will not be using them- some may buy them just to read the articles themselves, and some may buy them to fill a website that never gets started. And last of all, it is not likely to ever happen because the web has billions of sites, and a few hundred duplicates aren’t even the tiniest drop in the bucket.

Have The Principles Of The Home Business Start Changed

But the truth is like in the life generally, the old proven home business start models are there and working well. The hype advertising, which is the biggest problem in our industry, tries to convince you about the must to skip the old models and techniques and to jump with them into something new.
Please, do not buy these ideas.

The stats tells that the affiliate marketing is still going strong, the information products are there and still going strong and the content is there are going strong.

The fundamentals of the home business start and the internet marketing will change very slowly but the day to day tricks come and go, which confuses the picture.

1.Too Much Opportunities.

The biggest challence for the home business starter is the huge supply of opportunities. When the know how about the internet marketing is low in the beginning, it is very difficult to judge, which affiliate program to select or which ad to believe.

The home business starter needs a solid business modell to start successfully and to avoid the biggest errors. But how can he select one without his own know how? The answer to this question is maybe the most important question in the beginning.

The best working solution is to pick just one business model, for instance the affiliate marketing, and stick to it. This makes the learning and management of the home business start much easier.

2.The Opportunity Is There And Waiting.

Generally speaking there are opportunities to all kind of businesses in the Internet. You can make a success there if you stick to one business modell and focus to master it totally. The question is to select a narrow niche for you, which fits you totally.

Many home business starters try to find out an unique product or affiliate program to sell. This is natural, because the goal is to be different and unique.

But this approach is unrealistic. The better way is to try to build a model how to promote a wellknown brand, whether it is an affiliate program or a product. So how instead of what.
By this how approach it is easier to build a personal and different offer.

3.The New Tools Are Effective In The Beginning.

The new promotions, like social sites, video marketing, are very effective right after they have been appeared into the marketplace. Their power will however weaken, when the internet is full of them. When their market is saturated, the quality is again king and the best ones will work effectively.

The new promotions are the sign of the state of the art approach but still the fundamentals will determine the success of the home business start.

4.Strive For Consistency, Focus And Patience.

You see, the home business start is aimed to be a long term, successful operation, not a one shot way to make a huge amount of money. This means that your choices must stand the time and have the experienced backup team to develope the model.

Blogging For Socially Responsible Business

To the progressive shopper, the jewelry industry is associated with blood diamonds, dirty gold, and lead poisoned jewelry imported from China. In May, 2007, I started a blog that supports the movement to ethical sourced jewelry. I found a lot of support from people within this sector who have similar values but have not had a place to have a voice.

Naturally, the focus of jewelry trade magazines is mainly on issues of fashion and business. They cannot provide a lot of space to a small movement within the industry to promote radical change simply because the industry as a whole does not want radical change.

I suspect that there are many other business sectors where people are doing visionary work that is not being covered by mainstream press. Many of the current business approaches and structures are so confining that they limit the creative and spiritual potential. Blogging has been picked up in the tech industry and also, of course, in the political spheres, but what about manufacturing? What about other business sectors where great change is taking place under the surface?

Blogs can empower those working for radical positive transformation. They reward transparency and penalizes corruption. Blogs are the great democratic equalizer, the ultimate free press. They strip away spin like varnish remover on antiquated marketing techniques. Many jewelry companies are pushing their latest "green" or "eco" angle without talking about what they are doing in China, or how their mines might be causing toxic runoff in some developing country. You gain power (readership) by muckraking and breaking stories.

Reputations are made now on google. Rankings are everything. It is more and more risky to hide or lie. Just consider what has recently happened to the CEO of Whole Foods who was anonymously blogging about the stock prices of Wild Oats before he purchased the company. Secrets are becoming a thing of the past. Radical transparency has even, in some sectors, become the ultimate marketing tool.

To start, all you need is a high school kid to help you set up one of the free services. Some of the better platforms include blogger.com, wordpress.com, typepad.com, vox.com. Once you have written a few articles, issue a press release. Email people to read what you've written and build the readership yourself. Be a gatherer of stories. Everybody wants a place where they can put forth their views. If you are serving your community and you have some passion around the issues, you will find a readership.

Always be positive. In other words, create information on the blog that can be useful and proactive. It is easy to complain. But it is much more useful to provide solutions. Moveon.org is a good example of an activist blog. They always have an action associated with each of their posts. Many of my posts offer solutions to issues.

Also, it is important that your blog is niched. The jewelry blog is actually my second blog. My first blog had writing about corporate socially responsibility and mixed it with ethics about jewelry production. But they are two audiences. So I separated the blogs. In other words, keep your blogs focused.

Once you start, it is a commitment. You have to post at least once a week; preferably, more. As someone who already has more than a full time job running a company of ten people, posting a few times a week is a huge commitment, which is part of the reason I welcome the writings of other people. But blogging can serve a critical part of your search engine optimization strategy. The articles you write can be submitted to directories that can bring links and traffic back to your main revenue producing websites.

I have found that writing the blog has potentially huge spin off benefits for my company. I do not view my blog as self promotion, but when journalists are looking for authorities on particular subjects, they will check the internet.

Reading the news these days, it can be discouraging, but many great initiatives are taking place right now. Paul Hawkins talked those who are working for positive social justice and change as being the immune system of the planet. We can support each other and communicate among ourselves on the web, where we are all connected.

How to Create the Best Affiliate Website

You want to make money with affiliate programs. What is the main thing that you need? A list. And how do you get that list? You must have a website.

Many new affiliate marketers just promote the link that the affiliate program gives them. They may be making some money, but the truth is that customers rarely puchase the first time that they see a product. Now, ask yourself what happens if they decide to buy that product later. You lose your commission!

If you have your own website, you can capture those prospective customers' name and email address and "remind" them about the product that they were interested in.

Many of the successful affiliate marketers only have what is called a "squeeze" page or a landing page. They give out a free report or ebook to get people to subscribe to their list.

My approach is a bit different. I feel that people are visiting my websites because they want information. So, I do my best to give them that information. Sure, I have a newsletter subscription box on my site, but I am having more success with providing the information that people are looking for.

You don't absolutely HAVE to have a content site to have an affiliate website. There are different types of sites that can direct traffic to your affiliate merchant.

1. Price comparison sites. These sites are mostly dominated by the big corporations like Shopzilla so it is more difficult for an affiliate marketer to make any money with comparison sites. It is possible to have a product feed to take care of some of the technical aspects, but it's still difficult.

2. Product review sites. Product review sites are becoming more and more popular. Pick products that match your content topic.

3. "Mini" sites. These sites (as I mentioned before) that normally just have an optin page to gather the names and emails of prospects. Then, you create an autoresponder series to introduce these people to your affiliate products. Your messages are NOT sales letters. They are based on the good, quality information that they are looking for.

4. And, of course, the plain old content site. Although, these days, content sites don't have to be all that plain. Content can be defined as words, videos, audio and multimedia. The possibilities are endless.

Now that you know that you need a website, how do you go about getting one? Let's take a look:

1. Hire someone to create a beautiful site for you. This can run into big money. You CAN get a reasonably priced web designer if you do your research. If you do decide to go this way, be sure that you ask for references (yes, just like in the offline world), and check them out.

2. Blogging. I love blog sites because the search engines love them AND because they are "easy peasy." The two top choices for creating a blog are WordPress and Blogger.com (http://blogger.com). WordPress is free from http://wordpress.org. It can be installed with just a few clicks from your web hosting control panel (provided you have cpanel type hosting.) Blogger.com is an online service provided by Google. I prefer WordPress because Google has a habit of deleting blogs without notice for reasons that are known only to them. Have you heard the funny story about when Google deleted their own blog?

3. Design Dashboard, by Marlon Sanders: Point and click your way to a beautifully designed website. I have used this and so I know that this learn and you do system is terrific to those who have never created a website.

4. XSite Pro. I use this for the majority of my websites. XSite Pro is extremely easy for the newbie to use so that they don't have to have a website designer create a site for them. Just point, click and type. It has a built in template system plus third-party templates are available everywhere these days.

5. Microsoft FrontPage or Dreamweaver. This software is a little more difficult to learn, but I did it - so you can do it if you want!

6. Nvu. (http://nvu.com). A free HTML editor that is pretty easy to learn. The best part? I'll repeat: FREE.

7. SiteBuildIt is the only all-in-one site-building, site-hosting, AND site-marketing system of software tools for affiliate marketers.

7. Squidoo. You can create a squidoo lens with articles that will promote your affiliate product. I would still recommend that you have your own domain name and website.

Also remember that you don't have to promote products that are in the internet marketing arena. Think about your hobbies, interests and talents. You might just come up with a niche that is very profitable.

Stick to affiliate products that fit your niche. People are not looking for gambling products on a fashion site! Yes, there are millions of people on the 'Net but they are looking for something specific. Give it to them.

Your affiliate website is your most important asset because it is where people come up to sign up for your newsletter. You've heard it before: the money is in the list. So, give your website a clean, professional look as well as providing the information that visitors are looking for.

Fantastico and CPanel is the Best Choice

cPanel is short for Control Panel and is a graphical user interface or GUI that is web-based and designed to afford webmasters and web designers easy access to many aspects of the web hosting system.

It used to be hard, if not impossible, for most people to figure out what to do with their hosting once they paid for it.

cPanel is an interface that allows web hosting companies to offer a graphical interface to people seeking to set up and run websites on a number of RPM-based Linux platforms.

cPanel is usually interfaced with the end user via ports 2082 and 2083 with authentication accomplished through surfing to a specific web page and logging in. Because cPanel is graphically based, it is extremely easy to use and very intuitive for novice as well as veteran users to work with.

If you want to set up a blog, mailing list, php link directory or basic content management system, cPanel is the way to go.

By clicking on the happy face icon used by Fantastico, a user is taken a list of software that is grouped into various topics and offered as an easy setup and tracking system for just about anything the end-user might want to add to the Internet community.

As a result, a webmaster can concentrate on the content and quality of what's offered from the website and not the technical aspects of getting the site up and running.

With cPanel, managing your MySQL databases are a breeze to manage, releasing hosting companies from endless help requests from confused people. cPanel manages setup and maintenance of email accounts using three different web interfaces for retrieval via the web of email coming into the account.

Raising and lowering email quotas, adding and manipulating databases, managing PGP keys, setting up crontab tasks, email and FTP tasks and more.

Via Fantastico, several add-on scripts automate the installation and upgrade of many of the popular applications like SMF, WordPress, Joomla, TikiWiki and phpBB to name a few. There are over 50 other scripts to choose from and it is constantly updated.

There are some pros and cons to using cPanel with webhosting. One of the biggest cons is in the ever increasing reality that cPanel is a hackers dream.

With identity theft being a prevalent and expanding phenomenon, the ease of making sub-domains portion and ease of using cPanel has been and continues to be exploited.

Vigilance is necessary to avoid having the account suspended due to phishing. A hacker will set up a sub-domain called aol.YOURDOMAIN.com or bankofamerica.YOURDOMAIN.com and point unsuspecting victims to the sub-domain on your site via bulk email.

After a few days, your site will disappear and you will receive an email where the web hosting company will shut you down due to phishing. If you receive this email, go back into cPanel and click on the sub-domains button.

It will give you the sub-domain in question, and you can attempt to get rid of it. Get rid of the contents via FTP and delete (or attempt to delete) it via cPanel. If you can't get rid of it, contact your web hosting company. They will be happy to help you. Be sure and change your password because it's passed around like candy in a schoolyard.

What makes cPanel so easy is what makes it so easy to exploit. Until lately, most of these scripts ran through a cPanel that was set to either X or X2 layout. Nowadays, the scripts can run under any layout.

That's the only con to this great piece of software. It takes consistent monitoring; however, it is not something that happens that often. Hacking cPanel is just something that most webmasters need to understand. If you want to avoid it altogether, simply set up your site with 0 sub-domains or the exact amount of sub-domains you need for your needs.

If you have 100 sub-domains with your package, ask the administrator to reduce it to 5 until you need more. In that way, you can benefit from the fantastic feature-rich cPanel interface and won't need to deal with the crap that comes along with it.

There is so much positive advancements in using this interface, that the sub-domain problem shouldn't be a deterrent to using it. It is definitely the best system on the market.

Free Website Templates

If you are thinking of starting a website on your own, consider using free web templates to create the design. Although free website templates can be a little more difficult to find when compared to paid ones, they do offer a lot of features and benefits that you cannot forget about. The first benefit, of course, is that the website templates are free. But luckily, there are many other advantages as well.

Far beyond the actual cost, which is nothing, website owners will find a lot of benefits in free website templates. Talented designers put together website templates that are free and they are usually created by the same designers that code custom sites.

The only problem with free website templates is that there is a lot of repetition. Since they are free, most people use them. But that does not undermine their quality. Moreover, with the introduction of new platforms and so many templates available every day, you don't really have to worry about repetition anymore.

Once you find a good high quality website template the basics of the design are ready to go. Plus, you can actually add custom elements to anything you get so it doesn't have to fit perfectly from the start. This will save you a lot of money but also, it will save you a lot of time and you won't have to put as much effort into it. In the end, it's always easier to change a site that already exists then to create one from the beginning.

Often people have a bias against anything that is free. They think that the quality will not be as good as the templates that you have to pay for. And, there is no denying the possibility that some templates may actually be of a low quality, but most of the free templates are as good as the paid ones.

The inside story is that some very talented designers often offer free templates for advertising their product. They offer a few of their designs in order to have their name or website show up on your site. This makes them popular and you get to save money in the bargain. All this goes to prove that the quality of free website templates is just as good as the custom site and it is free!

Of course, there is the problem of everyone using the same free website templates, including your competition. This is a matter of concern because you would naturally want your website to have a unique look on the Internet. If your website looks like any other on the Internet, you really don't gain much. But, there is a way to overcome this deficiency; you can always customize a free website template to suit your needs.

Nonetheless, you will have to do some research to find a good template that works for your business and is of a good quality. Often the quality of free web site templates is quite different in different places. Therefore, the best bet is to customize your website. You will need a basic understanding of some coding languages even if you do not know how to code yourself. That is the only way you can be on top of any problems or glitches that may arise.

Storytelling In Streaming Video Creation

In general, in life, one of the most valuable things anyone can do is to give people a purpose - this is also true within the internet marketing arena and the appropriate use of streaming video. That's why inspirational and motivational video on a webpage are always at the top of the charts-demand for encouragement and will never be exhausted as we progress in the evolution of using online video.

What Dale Carnegie did with his books in the early years of the twentieth century can be done on a much larger stage today, thanks to the power of the Internet and the use of streaming audio and video broadcasting. There are over a billion people online today. A popular viral streaming video can be viewed by millions of people around the world in just a few days.

Popular online video products are successful because they connect with their target audience video streaming video as we as humans need to be communicated to via the visual audio and kinesthetic means. The most powerful way to connect with viewers is by telling a story and streaming audio and video broadcasting is a perfect vehicle for this. When we as humans aren't emotionally connected to what a speaker is saying, we tune out so the appropriate script for use with the streaming video message is critical. We as humans will always listen closely to someone who is able to tell engaging stories.

Effective meetings and sales presentations take advantage of the power of strategic storytelling and this should be the same for one's internet marketing efforts and the use of streaming video. When you bring listeners into your story with online video by connecting to their experience, you create a space where they can start to trust you and want to find out more.

Some experts say that this is a great place to go if you want to develop your skills as a storyteller. The better you become at connecting to people and using streaming video through the stories you tell in your internet marketing efforts, the easier it is for customers to remember your message.

When going through your natural learning experiences (including using streaming video as a part of your internet marketing) you will have probably connected with your own experience and thought about people and events that would make a good concept for creating your own streaming video product with using video on a webpage.

Whatever your products or services are; using streaming video as part of your internet marketing strategy is critical as streaming audio and video broadcasting has been shown to connect with audiences. The use of streaming video is here to stay and online video prices are dropping steadily to make the use of video on a webpage within the reach of more and more individuals who are looking to make a living on the internet.

Traffic Tube: YOUR Key to Online Visibility

If you're reading this, there's a great chance that you have discovered all about the "traffic tube" trend and wanted to know more information. Video marketing is now one of the most powerful ways to market products and services online, while YouTube is the most powerful video-hosting website that allows any amateur or professional to use their website as a video marketing platform. Combine video marketing and the power of YouTube and you've got yourself a successful traffic tube.

Video marketing + YouTube = Successful traffic tube.

So what does traffic tube really mean? You need to understand that recreational internet surfing has taken over television as the largest recreational activity. By the start of 2007, an estimated six billion people, in the United States alone, use the internet. From Google's acquisition of YouTube in late 2006 until today, YouTube is getting more traffic that CNN, MySpace and the ever-popular Ebay. This proves that YouTube traffic can really help in increasing online visibility to your business, products or services.

How do you start a traffic tube campaign?

In order to use YouTube as your marketing plan in driving website traffic, you should do your homework and know what majority of internet users are interested in. Most of the time, YouTube viewers are attracted to videos with that are shocking, funny, gross, interesting, weird, personal, instructional, inspiring and sexy. If you've created videos of these natures, there is a higher chance that your short clip will generate considerable views.

The next thing you should consider is the concentration span of viewers. Be aware that there are millions of videos uploaded in YouTube. If you are unable to catch the viewers' attention within the first few seconds of your clip, then they might stop watching and skip to another video. Ideally, a video length of 2 to 3 minutes is the best.

Although YouTube have no rules about professional video publishers, it is best to ensure that your video is clear, sound is good and message is conveyed. Even as amateur video makers, you can demonstrate your product, promote your business, market a brand, promote products and advertise services through your videos.

After uploading your video to YouTube, your traffic tube campaign is not yet complete. You need to choose keywords wisely so people can find your videos based on its theme or niche. Your keywords should also appear on the title, tags and description. Use only a few targeted keywords for your video, but remember to include your websites URL in your description.

As long as you keep your viewers entertained, laughing, interested and touched by your videos, you can drive them to your website and increase online visibility in no time.

Is Your Inbox Crammed With Spam?

I receive approximately 5,000 emails containing spam each and every day. Well, maybe not that many, but it sure seems close to that figure. Spam is spiraling out of control and shows no signs of stopping. The question is, where does spam come from, and can you do anything about it?

Most of the spam I receive in my inbox is sexually explicit, but I still like to look at it because some of this junk is actually quite entertaining. My personal favorites are offers to purchase discounted Canadian Viagra, ads for pornographic websites, and bogus work-from-home programs.

How do these people get their grimy hands on your email address? One way they can get it is through opt-in email. When you order something online, as part of the subscription or service that you signed up for, you may have inadvertently agreed to receive offers via email from that company in the future.

As a result, said company adds you to their mailing list and begins to send you email. This is perfectly legal as long as the company provides you with a way to unsubscribe from their mailing list. If they do not provide you with a means to unsubscribe, then the emails they are sending you are considered spam.

To make matters worse, a spammer will sell your email address and any other information you submitted to them to hundreds or even thousands of other companies who are looking for leads. Before you know it, your email address has been circulated everywhere. Once this happens, there is almost no way to prevent spam from reaching your inbox.

Another common way your email address can end up on a mailing list is when an internet marketer purchases a list of email addresses from someone else, and then sends a joke or an interesting cartoon to everyone on that list and asks you to forward it along to all your friends and relatives.

Once you forward the message, the email has a program attached to it that will copy the list of addresses that the message has been forwarded to and send that list back to the person who originally sent you the email. So now, that person not only has your email address, but also has the email address of everyone you forwarded the message to.

Another popular technique is known as harvesting. This is accomplished by writing a simple retrieval program that searches through every web site listed on a search engine for a certain keyword, and then grabs any any email addresses that are posted on those sites, and subsequently sends them back to the harvester. Using this technology, it is possible to acquire thousands of email addresses in an hour or less.

Harvesting has become a legal dilemma. The email marketing community feels that they should be allowed to harvest email addresses that are posted on public websites. In their opinion, if someone has posted their email address for all to see, then other people have the right to contact that person and ask them questions or send them offers.

However, web sites where email addresses are posted have threatened legal action against anyone that harvests email addresses from their site and uses them to build spam lists. Unfortunately, these web sites really have no way to prevent this, and it will only get worse in the future.

We will never stop spam completely. Both big businesses and small businesses have a strong incentive to send bulk email, because it costs nothing, and is a valuable tool for increasing their customer base. Sending regular mail or hiring a telemarketer costs a lot of money and is extremely ineffective. As a result, most companies would prefer to send massive amounts of email. So, expect your inbox to be chock full of spam for many years to come.

: Be A Designer At Heart

How your site looks is important in attracting visitors and repeat visitors. And if you plan to charge a membership fee, you can,t expect people to pay for access to a site that is rough on the eyes. In order to ensure that your visitors have a visually appealing experience, you can hire a graphic artist or read up on some ways to enhance the look of your website.

Here are a few tips to get you started:

- Don't overload it: A website with too much information on each page is no fun for anyone. Who wants to scroll for a mile to get to the information they want?

- Don't blind people: Brilliant colors may attract people, but on a website, a neon yellow background is just going to make people hit the Back button. There's nothing that turns visitors off more than an unappealing color scheme. It sounds very minor, but it's true! If they can't read your red text on a pink background, you need to rethink your design.

- Don't be cluttered: Sure, you may need to cram a lot of information onto the website, but that doesn,t mean you can or should throw everything on there. Choose only what is most relevant for the home page. Make sure search queries produce a reasonable amount of results.

A page of 200 results may not be the best choice. Again, people don,t like to have to scroll very far to find the answers to their questions. Plus, scanning a page that,s cluttered can be discouraging and make visitors go elsewhere to find the information they need.

- Use a readable font: Don,t use anything that has curly-cues or looks like Old English script. Rather, use a standard font that is easy to read such as Times New Roman, Arial, Courier or Helvetica. You want to use a font that is both easy on the eyes and compatible with all web browsers. Using a fancy font may look nice on your computer, but it can be thrown all out of whack when viewed on a different computer. Don,t alienate your visitors.

- Keep it simple: There,s nothing that turns a visitor off more than a website that takes too long to load or requires a bunch of additional software or plug-ins to run. If your fancy site intro won,t load or your visitor needs to download a plug-in to view it, most visitors won,t take the time to wait. Make sure your design, layout and navigation are all simple and easy to use and don,t require any special functions.

Of course, there is much more to designing a competent website that these tips, but they should point you in the right direction when it comes to building your site. And remember: when in doubt, there are many websites and books out there that detail how to build a website for consumers.

Why You Should Consider Xtreme Rankings

There has been a recent trend to portray Seach Engine Oprimisation (SEO) as something the ordinary website owner can't do on their own. This has given rise to hundreds of so called SEO experts who charge clients a lot of money to promote their websites.A visit to any SEO forum will reveal lot's of contradictory advice often coming from these "experts". Undoubtably there are a few people who really do know what they are talking about but the vast majority just know what they have read in the same forums.

Many search engine optimisation "experts" run into problems by trying to be too clever and keep one step ahead of the search engines. The keep themselves in work by constantly having to update sites so they they are regarded as perfect by various search engines but this doesn't work on a long term basis. If you stick with a few simple rules and methods you will constantly outrank many sites that change their strategy every month.

All is not lost! Ryan Moran recently released Xtreme Rankings which is an e-book and a set of Videos that will show you the simple methods that work. By following these methods you'll be able to get any page you want ranking well in Goolge and other search engines. Ryan will show you everything that you need to know and in an easy to follow style.

Just to prove to myself that the book and videos were easy to follow I gave them to my daughter and asked her to come up with a plan to promote a website. She had no problems what so ever in following what Ryan was showing her and the next day she presented me with a blueprint to promote a site she made about her favorite band.

Xtreme Rankings comes in 2 Parts along with a Bonus Book.

Part 1. The Xtreme Rankings Ebook

Part 2. The acompanying Xranking Videos

Bonus Product: The Joel method e-book

The Book part of Xtreme ranking Guides you through what you need to do to get to the top of Gooles rankings. The books contains no filler and it just nugget after nugget of pure information. I just wish some other recently released products could have been this useful. You get all the information you need and see all the tools which Ryan uses.

The series of videos that Ryan includes are ideal for people who prefer to be shown how to do things rather than read about it. Each video elaborates on what the book has told us and shows us step by step everything Ryan does to conquer the search engine rankings. As with the book Ryan doesn't hold back and shows us all the tools and resources he uses.

I am not sure why Ryan felt he needed to include a bonus product. Xtreme Rankings stands alone as a truly great product at a great price. However we are given the bonus book and it's well worth reading. It shows how a friend of Ryan used a simple method to create a good daily income.

How to Choose the Right Alarm Monitoring for Home Security System

There are many benefits to be gained from having a home security system which is being monitored 24/7. Below we will take a look at just what alarm monitoring for home security system is and how it can benefit you as a home owner.

Once you start looking into alarm monitoring services you will be amazed at the number of different security companies that now offer this facility to homeowners. Companies such as ADT are probably one of the most well recognized of all home monitoring services now available. But just how does such a system work?

First off the alarm monitoring service company will have, within your security system, a signal that will be sent back to the center where all monitoring is done. Once such a signal is received, meaning the alarm system has been triggered, one of the monitors will call your home to ensure that some emergency is really happening. If they get no answer at the house, then they will alert the police or sheriff to take the proper course of action. If the service you chose has this option, then the monitoring service will also call any numbers on an emergency contact list as well.

In addition to just alarm monitoring for home security system, you can add some other systems to your monitoring service. These could include smoke detection system and a medical or panic alarm system. If these are activated, the monitoring service company will also contact the proper authorities for that emergency.

When it comes to you finding the right kind of alarm monitoring service for your home, you should carry out as much research as possible on each one that you are considering. Below we provide you with some tips which will help you to decide which one may be the best option for you.

Firstly you should inquire as to how long the company has been in business. Certainly the less time they have been in business the less likely they will be able to provide you with the kind of service you want. It is better to go with companies that are well established and have been providing such a service for a number of years.

Additionally, make sure the home security system monitoring company you pick will be providing service every day of the year. Ask them what backup systems they have in place if there is a power outage or something else should happen. You will find the reputable companies have generators as backup or some other type of UPS system.

Lastly check to see if the alarm monitoring for home security system service has insurance in place. Check to see if they are using Underwriters Laboratory (UL) certified equipment in the burglar alarm system or other security system they install. And see if they are UL certified themselves.

Learning the Basics of RSS

What is RSS? You probably have seen this three-letter acronym in the course of your internet surfing. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary; syndicating means republishing an article that comes from another source such as a website.

The RSS feed usually contains the title of the update originating from the website. It is also usually the link to the website source.

What are the benefits of RSS? RSS gives benefits to both readers (users) and web publishers.

1. It gives you the latest updates. Whether it is about the weather, new music, software upgrade, local news, or a new posting from a rarely-updates site learn about the latest as soon as it comes out.

2. It saves on surfing time. Since an RSS feed provides a summary of the related article, it saves the user's time by helping s/he decide on which items to prioritize when reading or browsing the net.

3. It gives the power of subscription to the user. Users are given a free-hand on which websites to subscribe in their RSS aggregators which they can change at any time they decide differently.

4. It lessens the clutter in your inbox. Although your email address will be required to enjoy the services of online RSS aggregators, RSS does not use your email address to send the updates.

5. It is spam free. Unlike email subscriptions, RSS does not make use of your email address to send updates thus your privacy is kept safe from spam mails.

6. Unsubscribing is hassle-free. Unlike email subscriptions where the user is asked questions on why s/he is unsubscribing and then the user would be asked to confirm unsubscribing, all you have to do is to delete the RSS feed from your aggregator.

7. It can be used as an advertising or marketing tool. Users who subscribe or syndicate product websites receive the latest news on products and services without the website sending spam mail. This is advantageous to both the web user and the website owner since advertising becomes targeted; those who are actually interested in their products are kept posted.

What are the drawbacks of RSS? The disadvantages of RSS use are brought about by its being a new technology and some user-preference concerns.

1. Some users prefer receiving email updates over an RSS feed.

2. Graphics and photos do not appear in all RSS feeds. For conciseness and ease of publication, RSS feeds do not display the photos from the original site in announcing the update except for some web-based aggregators

3. The identity of the source website can be confusing. Since RSS feeds do not display the actual URL or name of the website, it can sometimes get confusing on what feed a user is actually reading.

4. Publishers cannot determine how many users are subscribed to their feed and the frequency of their visits. Moreover, they would not know the reasons why users unsubscribe which could be important in improving their advertising.

5. RSS feeds create higher traffic and demands on the server. Most readers still prefer the whole update over a brief summary of the entry, thus they still access the site.

6. Since it is a new technology, many sites still do not support RSS.

How do I start using RSS? There are two things needed: an RSS feed and an RSS aggregator or reader. The RSS feed comes from an RSS-supported website. There are also websites that provide a list of RSS feeds of different websites. An RSS aggregator is used to read the RSS feed from the source website. It scans and collects data on latest RSS feeds from the worldwide web.

An aggregator comes in two forms: a downloadable program also known as desktop aggregator and an online or web-based aggregator. Downloadable aggregators may require payment before they can be acquired, while internet-based aggregators are usually free of charge. All you need to do is to register an account then you are ready to use their services. Both versions allow you to customize or choose which RSS feeds to enter. Paid aggregators are usually chosen by more experienced users and they usually allow more freedom in customizing feeds.

1. Choose an RSS aggregator to use. For beginners, web-based aggregators are recommended since they are usually user-friendly

2. Scan the homepage of your target website for the RSS or XML button. It contains the RSS code you need to enter in the aggregator. Copy this code. Syndic8 provides a directory of websites that support RSS.

3. Paste the code (which contains the URL of the website) in your aggregator. There is a space provided for pasting the code.

After you have done these three easy steps, you can start reading the RSS feeds coming from the website. New postings appear as they are published real time at the source website.

RSS and Internet Marketing. The original idea of RSS came from Netscape, where their intention is to provide a means for users to customize their personal homepage to contain links to websites that interest them, similar to bookmarking websites.

The application of RSS to internet marketing was an unforeseen development to RSS technology developers. Since users are given the freedom to add RSS feeds to their aggregators, those who are interested in particular products and services available in the internet can now be notified real time. Marketing becomes more specific to interested people and not a hit-and-miss operation.

Those who intend to use RSS for marketing their products and services should consider linking up with email account providers, (e.g. Yahoo, MSN, Google mail); networking websites (e.g. Friendster, Multiply, My Space, Hi5); websites of newspapers and television network websites (e.g. New York Times, CNN) for medium to big-scale companies. Small-time industries can also look into networking websites as well as personal blog websites (e.g. Blogspot) and websites of clubs and organizations that would probably make use of their products or services e.g. a fishing supplies store can look for the website of their local fishing club for possible RSS marketing.

Clearly, RSS is an innovation in information management in the worldwide web as well as online marketing. We can expect better RSS technology in the not-so-distant future as its popularity increases among users and website owners alike.

Tips To Succeed Using Google Adwords

Google Adwords is a popular internet marketing program that helps an Internet Marketer to succeed within a reasonable span of time. This article shares a few strategies to succeed while using Google Adwords.

Google Adwords is a widely used pay-per-click program for advertising on the internet. Unlike regular search engine listings, which are free listings according to "relevance", as defined by the particular search engine involved, Adwords are small text ads which usually appear to the right of the unpaid listings. Google has also introduced graphics ads in the AdWords placement. Advertisers bid on specific "keywords", which determines where the ad is displayed. However, unlike other search engines, where placement is completely determined by the amount of the bid, Google uses a complex calculation which also takes into the account the popularity of the ad. Thus, an ad which gets clicked on a lot can end up in a better position than one with a higher bid. That's how Google rewards the ad for relevancy, so it pays to create an ad that will invite clicks.

Advertising with Adwords has many advantages. First, the ad is displayed immediately, as opposed to waiting for sites to show up in regular listings, which can take months. This is because Google chooses on which site to advertise and not the advertiser. Second, these ads can be highly targeted, meaning you can make sure you're only paying for clicks by customers who are sincerely interested. Third, Adwords allows you to run several ad campaigns simultaneously, so you can test the results and experiment on the fly to constantly improve the quality of the ads. You can even track the "conversion rate," or the actual number of sales generated by a given ad. This is highly important for PPC marketing.

The primary step is to come up with the most effective list of keywords. This is extremely important, because if you bid on the same ones everyone else is bidding on, you will end up with very expensive clicks. You can use any of the many keyword search tools available (wordtracker.com has a popular one) to determine which keywords have lots of searches but not too much competition. You could also use AdWords Analyzer software for this purpose. If you bid on enough low-cost keywords, you can do as well or better than if you had placed an expensive bid on a popular term. You can also place a limit on your budget, so that you can control how much your total expenditure is per month. You can also specify certain words you do not want included, so that you don't attract a lot of clicks from people looking for something related that you don't offer.

If you are starting out with Google Adwords, I will teach you a fairly simple technique that will save you from spending a lot initially on clicks. Under Networks where your ads should be shown, you need to disable Content Network and activate only Search Network. Normally, you get more targeted visitors with Search Network compared with Content Network. When you are dealing with more targeted visitors, then your click through rate (CTR) will increase and wasteful clicks can be avoided.

The Google Ad itself consists of four lines: a title of no more than 25 characters, a description with two lines of up to 35 characters each, and a line for your URL, also limited to 35 characters. The title is what really attracts attention. It should include the keyword you're targeting, and should be as striking as possible so as to stand out from the crowd. If it's truly attention-getting, it will get more clicks than other, duller ads higher up on the page. Some suggest that it should be in all caps but Google TOS does not allow it, and include a price if possible.

The description should include the special features of your product, and also include enough information to discourage clicks by unqualified customers. Make sure they know what you're selling and what to expect, as well as what sets you apart from the competition. This makes it necessary that you should include the price. It will dissuade irrelevant clicks and thereby save on costs.

Finally, make sure the URL listed in the Google Ad takes the visitor to the most relevant page in your site for what they're looking for. Make sure the link is up to date and functioning correctly.

That's it in a nutshell, although the nuances are quite a bit more complex than we can deal with here. Many resources are available on the net which go into greater detail. But now that you understand the basics, you should be armed with the information you need to explore one of the most potentially lucrative marketing tools on the internet.

The best part about Google Adwords is that you do not need a website to use it. Anybody with a little ingenuity and some imagination can succeed in making money using Google Adwords.

Can Commercial Voice Over Demos Expire?

Whether it's just a bit of spring cleaning for you or if you're in for an all-out demo overhaul, updating a commercial demo from time to time is necessary. The lifespan of a commercial demo is determined by a number of factors. Common indicators that your demo or parts of a voice over demo may be past their prime are: Dates and Times mentioned in the ad copy; Music Selections; Voice Age; and References to Pop Icons and Events of Yesteryear.

Dates and Times: Marc Cashman received a question on Ask the Voice Cat about how often a voice talent should update their commercial voice over demo. Marc focused on the issue of dates and times, saying that if a product is mentioned to be older than two years, try to edit out the date or leave the dates out altogether when recording initially. For instance, if you have a commercial read in your demo about a model of a car that was 'new' in 2005, it might just be time to update that demo.

Music: Let's look at the music factor now. Does the music sound retro? Are the sound effects in line with what you would expect to hear today? Are there cheesy synthesizers in the background? Music often sets the tone for a voice over demo and helps to establish your personal branding style. Don't let styles of music that have been shelved for too long give clients the wrong impression of your production or music selection skills. There are many royalty-free music libraries out there that you can purchase updated music and sound effects from to keep your demos current.

Voice Age: If you recorded your commercial demo in the 80s or even the early to mid 90s, the demo itself may not only sound aged, but your voice may have matured since that recording, too. Voices age, just like your bodies do. A good example is the hesitation that the directors for the Transformers movie due out this summer had with guaranteeing that the original voice actors from the cartoon series in the 1980s would be cast again in their roles. I'm not certain if the vocal aging process is as noticeable in men, but the voices of women continue to mature until you are forty years old. That's a lot of changing and readjusting to your voice and vocal technique in the span of a voice over career. Ladies, your voice will peak around the age of 40 - it will be your signature sound and technically, you'll be in your vocal prime. That's something I've always been told by singing teachers over the years when questions arose regarding longevity of a career. Their advice in that department was nearly always accompanied by the fact that women have years of vocal growth ahead of them and not to worry about postponing a singing career in your twenties.

And finally, we find ourselves again in ad copy refinement... References to Popular Icons and Events of the Past: If you have a spot that mentions a Beatles reunion with Paul, George and Ringo, it may be time to cut that bit. George Harrison passed away in 2001. If you have a reunion tour of a band or anniversary reference in the ad copy on your demo, make sure that it is still relevant or at least accurate. Perhaps it isn't something in the popular realm but a political ad campaign. If the person isn't currently running for office or did not succeed in their attempt, strongly consider removing that spot. It may confuse people who are listening to your demo, and of course, reveal the age of the demo. So, now you have the tools to evaluate the state of your commercial demo. Let us know what you dig up!

The Three Main Components of a Successful AdWords Campaign

All over the world-wide-web marketers are calling out the virtues of Adwords. They promise youthful lazy enterprisers that for just so much money the will impart their knowledge on how they can generate several hundred dollars each day in the comfortable surroundings of their own home, and they only have to work 3-4 hours too.

Whoa there tiger, did you say lazy?

Sure! The reality is that Adwords is not that complex and by putting a little more effort into the project these young entrepreneurs could learn what these experts are charging money to teach.

In order for an AdWords campaign to succeed it is necessary for the strategy to contain three key components:

1. A success keyword. The keyword choice made for the adwords campaign is the pivotal decision out of all the decisions that are made when setting up an adwords campaign.

The trick to good keyword is to find ones that cover a wide enough area of the topic so that someone who is searching can be aimed in your direction but one that is pointed enough that it won't attract too many random searches.

It is important to remember that a search engine is going to charge the advertiser for the placement of their ad regardless of the resulting profit; after all, the only profit they are truly concerned with is their own.

The crux of this is that if an ad uses a well used keyword (a marketer may go over to the search engine database and get keywords that are often used in their ads) it will usually get a whole boatload of traffic, but what it won't do is bring in a lot of sales.

Adwords offers some great features to advertisers that have a problem gathering useful keywords for their ads. By going to www.adwords.google.com advertisers can access these great features.

2. High ranking bids. The unfortunate truth is that internet surfers are a broad representation of most types of people. They want precisely what they want and they want it right now.

This means that they are not going to have the patience to search through hundreds of pages of information; if what they are looking for is not within the first five to ten pages of a search they are probably going to attempt to send their search in a new direction with a new set of keywords.

For the marketer this means that they have to have their ad on the first few pages if they want it to be seen. Of course search engines don't put the ads up first in; first out. The marketer who will pay the most for a click with get the top spot when ads are displayed.

It is essential that the advertiser find the delicate balance between their sales and the money they are willing to part with; while an ad at the top of the list may receive more attention that does it little good if the advertising budget won't stretch far enough to allow it its maximum exposure.

Lucky for us that Google has a feature that lets a ceiling be put on the amount of money spent on ad campaigns. If the ceiling is reached, the ad is labeled inactive and not shown in the search results etc.

3. Follow up. Even if you have maximum effort from a crack team of advertisers, there aren't any guarantees about the results after an ad campaign is up and running. The advertiser still must watch the actions of the ads so that a problem can be avoided or minimized, and changes made to the ad campaign as needed.

There it is! All the key features of a profitable Adwords campaign have been laid out for you without a high price tag. The ball is in your court .are you going to take it and score?

How to Start Your Own Forum

Forum is a great addition for any website. It is a good tool to attract visitors to your site. But, what exactly is a free web forum? Well, it is a platform to bring like-minded people together to discuss things and share their experiences.

It helps you by not only attracting visitors to your site but also by encouraging them to come again and again to share their own experiences and gain knowledge. However, it is not easy to incorporate a free forum on your site. It requires a lot of time, plus, you must have a great deal of patience and enthusiasm.

If you want to know more and create your own forum, you must visit http://makeforum.org/home.php.

You must know that it is meaningless to add new forums in your site with no members and no posts. It will not work in a vacuum. So, the million-dollar question is: how to attract members and posts? The catch word is content. You can attract visitors and lure them to become members only if you post quality content. The better the quality of content you have, the more visitors will gravitate towards it. Also, provide a feedback link to the visitors to get regular updates from them and know their views.

You can offer special advertising options and other incentives to active members who frequent the forum. Many forums lure members through text links or banners. Then they prompt them to start their own discussions chains to avail of the free advertising options. Many others hold a lucky draw to pep up regular users.

Everyday, there are new forums coming up on the Internet. You can work with them to source content for your website forum. It will be a give and take affair. For example, you cannot just take content from them. You need to post in theirs too. If you are cash rich, then you can invite people to start discussions on your forum by luring them with cash incentives. Here you would need to do a thorough quality check in terms of the content. In addition, you must ensure that the visitors are not doing a copy paste from other forums.

Often it is seen that people are hesitant to start a discussion. In that case, you can 'clone' yourself and start a discussion. You can be quite sure that others will soon join in. This strategy is particularly helpful for those on a shoestring budget not able to attract visitors on their own.

This is only to initiate a discussion. Once the people get going you can exit quietly and let the community grow by itself. As in real life so in the free forum discussion, the toughest part is the initial warm up stage. Once that is done, building an online community is easy enough. You will need to take the reins in your hand in the beginning. Then your free forum will grow and flourish on its own with a little prodding once in a while.

3 Ways to Use Other People's Content to Boost Your Profits

Repurposing your content is an ingenious way to make more money with less effort. So is repurposing other people's content.

I'm not talking about plagiarizing or stealing someone else's ideas. I'm talking about using information that is already out there and repurposing it into a format not already available so it appeals to new and different audiences and directs those audiences back to your core message.

Here are three examples of how to boost your profits by using or repurposing other people's content, including two case studies of successful business strategies.

Compilation Book

Greatest Direct Mail Sales Letters of All Time by Richard Hodgson is a wonderful example of a repurposed book. Richard took all of the sales letters he had accumulated from friends and colleagues during the 40s, 50s and even before and compiled them into a book. It's an amazing book, and it sells for $69.95. It's an incredibly resourceful way to make money from a book. And you can do the same thing with your own books.

Articles
A great example of repurposed articles is AdvantEdge by Nightingale Conant. What is Nightingale Conant? It's repurposing other people's products, whether it's authors like Zig Ziglar, Jay Abraham, Denis Waitley, Brian Tracy or Mark Victor Hansen.

The AdvantEdge newsletter, which goes out to subscribers, includes powerful insights, excerpts and articles from Nightingale Conant's best-selling authors. The newsletter then directs readers back to the AdvantEdge site to purchase books about personal development, business strategy, wealth building, mind and body, spiritual growth and sales training. So by repurposing other people's content, Nightingale Conant is making a bundle.

Other People's Topics / The Public Domain
Your imagination is the limit when it comes to repurposing information in the public domain, or information that's free from copyright protection.

I know there are many books that are public domain. For example, certain books like Sun Tzu's The Art of War are public domain. You can add a few paragraphs or write a special introduction. You can put in a beginning and an end and you can apply it to whatever business you're in. Boom! You now keep 100% of the profit because it's in the public domain. Mozart's work is public domain. If you just hummed Mozart, you could sell it and keep all the profits.

You can use public domain materials to help you in your marketing by not having to reinvent the wheel. For example, you can use a chapter of a book as the basis for an article or use an entire book as the basis of a teleseminar. Because many government materials are public domain, you could base a special report, manual or article on a government-issued booklet or pamphlet.

Using your creativity to repurpose other people's content is an inspired way to leverage existing content and save yourself time, energy and money. Because you and your message are unique, they emanate through the content and continue to help you attract new audiences to you and your message.

Is Email Marketing Effective?

Email marketing can be extremely effective - not only in strengthening a brand image, but also in making sales.

Businesses use email marketing both internally and externally to generate new customer leads, create brand recognition and awareness, improve customer relationships, cross and up-sell to existing customers, improve website traffic, educate and support customers, promote events and generate product sales.

When compared to traditional direct mail, the cost benefit alone offers the greatest advantage. Consider the cost of print, postage and other production factors to realize the value gained. To make email marketing even more attractive, email marketing improves the speed of delivery, offers stronger controls over message delivery and measurably converts to sales.

Peter A. Johnson, Ph.D., director and senior economist, Strategic Information Unit in white paper "Preserving The Promise of The E-mail Marketplace: An Economic Assessment of The Proposed Federal DO-NOT-E-Mail Registry" states, "Based on US Census Bureau data for total e-commerce from 2003, DMA research estimates that already some 14% of the $138 billion Internet commerce marketplace for 2003 was driven by commercial e-mail. This translates into an excess of $19 billion spent in response to commercial e-mails in 2003.

Again however, it is important to bear in mind that the Census Bureau E-Stats program has not yet released its first measurements on the value of e-commerce in the vitally important services sector.

Since these purchases include many airline tickets and other forms of travel, hotel accommodation and car rentals, etc., that although initiated by an e-mail advertisement, may have been purchased via 800 number and thus not be categorized as e-commerce by the Census Bureau, it is likely this figure significantly understates the true impact of e-mail marketing."

The numbers, combined with the total cost to run a successful email marketing campaign, is unmatched.

In each relationship nurtured with email marketing, there are two sides - the sender and the receiver. The sender wants to reach the audience and promote the most positive image they can. They also want to reinforce their services or products in a way to increase sales and visibility.

How can they accomplish this? They need to draw up a clear portrait of their consumer. Answer the following questions:

What are the audience demographics - age, education, sex, geography and income?

What are the audience's interests and pastimes?

How busy is the audience and how frequently would they appreciate emails?

What would appeal to the audience - discounts, information, news or product updates?

What value can the business offer the consumer or target audience?

With an understanding of the person behind the email address, marketers may devise a program that appeals to their needs. Then it's recommended companies reevaluate and review success and results of the email marketing program on a regular basis to fine-tune the tactics.

In spite of government regulation, email marketing is growing. According to DoubleClick's Q4 2003 email survey, deliverability and open rates grew one percent, while click-through rates grew five percent year-over-year.

Eric Kirby, vice president and general manager of strategic services at DoubleClick, expects the industry to survive emerging obstacles: "There are two fundamental drivers behind this: 1) Consumers understand and value permission based e-mail relationships and differentiate these from spam and 2) leading companies are evolving their e-mail programs faster than the environment is becoming more difficult. In other words, they are keeping ahead of the challenges in many respects."

To your immediate and lasting small business marketing success!

Can You Start an Online Business With No Money?

What is needed to be done to start an online business, but short on cash to invest? A lot of times when I'm browsing through forums I come across people's posts who are new to internet marketing and want to start businesses online. They crave to be successful like the top marketers like Joe Vitale, Terry Dean and others who make a good living online. Yet, many feel it takes quite a bit of cash to start and don't feel they can afford it right now.

To run any business online you of course will cost a little money for web hosting and a domain name. But hosting can be found free with ads and domain names cost around $5. I will show you some things here to help you build your own product and market it for $0. You will want to switch to paid hosting, which is usually about $20 a month (to get rid of the ads) to be more professional to your customers as soon as you start making some advertising money you can invest some back into your business.

You should first (and most importantly in your business plan) make out a list of the skills you have acquired. You may have vast knowledge of an area you have learned at work. Maybe you know more than one language. Or, your hobbies are a great teacher of skills such as in an area of sports.

Now, take a look at your list of skills and find ones that you know would be of interest to other people to learn. Take for example, you love fishing, you wish you could just fish all day long. You know you have areas of expertise in fishing and know others love fishing. Take your knowledge and make a monthly tips course out of it that people would pay to subscribe to. Since you are the expert there is no need to pay someone else to give you information.

Take for another example, my latest ebook #1 on Google in 2 Days. I have been internet marketing for 5 years and have expertise in this niche. When an article of mine jumped to the top of Google, quickly beating out all competition, I analyzed what I exactly had done and made a step by step book of it. Then I made a free download page giving it away to help grow my email list.

And the best part is it was free, I just supplied my knowledge. To actually make the product I did use my Adobe and Snag-it programs. But, you can find similar programs free on the internet. If not a friend probably has programs you could use to build it.

You can still start an online business without a lot of cash, a first option to raise money in your new business is to use your existing knowledge and skill you have picked up in a particular field. The list is probably long; things learned at work, hobbies, or just anything you have a great interest in and have learned a lot about. And, it will be from your own personal view, showing tips and unique ideas. Share and profit by your knowledge.

Your Identity - Picking A Domain Name To Register

Perhaps the most poignant scene in Arthur Miller's play The Crucible happens at the end when the protagonist, John Proctor, refuses to sign his name on a false confession. When asked why he refuses to sign the document, even though it could save his life he cries out in anguish, "Because it is my name. It is the only name I will ever have." It is a heartfelt and stunning reminder that our identity begins at birth when our parents name us. A web site also depends on its name, which is why choosing a domain name that best represents your site and its purpose is something to be done very carefully indeed.

Choose the right name

When you are ready to start a web site don't just run to the first registry you can find and type in the first thing you think of. Sit down and do some research about your site and what you hope it will accomplish. What is the goal of your site? What kind of images do you want customers to associate with it? If you could sum up your site in one word, what would that word be? The best domain names tend to be names that are short and easy to remember and something to do with the topic or service your web site provides. If you are going to attempt humor with your domain name, make sure it's a joke that not just you can understand. Overall, the name should add to the quality of your web site not distract from it.

Check availability

As you're picking a name for your web site, one of the common things to happen is you find the absolutely most perfect name possible, go to the registry and type in the name in the lookup box and lo and behold - its already taken. Then you have a problem. You're already sold on the idea, and now it's not workable. Make sure to have a lookup box from the registry available as you are choosing the name for your domain site so you can check availability instantly. You should also check names that are similar to the domain name you are choosing to make sure there won't be confusion later on in and your advertising doesn't accidentally send your customer to someone else's site.

Pick the right extension

Many registrars will also let you choose the extension along with your domain name. That means that you get to choose whether your domain name will be a.com. or .net .biz or any of the other approved for public use extension names. Be sure to pick one that does not mislead your customers or clientele. If you're really selling something, choosing an .org which is largely for nonprofit organizations or a .net which is for social networking, may seem like a brilliant way to get people to your site. However, customers know when they've been conned and it tends to backfire on the business. Choose the proper extension for what you're doing and let your site's integrity sell itself.

What's in a name? Everything. Careful and thoughtful picking and use of the name for your web site will help keep your enterprise on the top of its game.

Work From Home - The 5 Things They Didn't Tell You When You Started a Blog

In the beginning, it always sounds like a simple idea. I want to start a blog. Anyone can. But, there are some things no one tells you. I will tell you what I learned.

The "five minute installation" at wordpress is not "five minutes" but more like a four hour torture session. It's designed to check if you are serious about this blog thing. After four hours, I found the fantistco button on my cpanel and I was up and running. No one shared that helpful hint with me. I just saved you four hours.

Your theme is more important than you imagine. It is your reader's first impression. More importantly, it's not easy to change after you have posted for awhile. Spend more time on a theme than I did.

Traffic analysis tools like google analytics are required but I will issue a warning. It is the first person in the morning to tell you that you have no friends. Don't even think about visitors. Here is how it works. You wake up hoping that someone found your site in these early stages. Maybe they will subscribe too. But the stats say three visitors. They also spend less than two minutes on your site. It's more like a drive-by stop. Google analytics should just say "good morning, you are still a loser today. Why don't you write another post for you and your mom."

How many times have you heard "write content and the readers will follow". It sounds easy. In the beginning ideas flow on the blog. But, finding good ideas to write about everyday is not easy. I let search traffic guide me. Isn't that how the Google algorithm finds the best site. Hopefully, I can do that and convince new subscribers and at least one-third of my current subscribers( my mom) to return and read because the posts are good.

Another axiom is "contests are an easy way to get traffic". Who wouldn't want a chance to win a free prize? Don't count on a thousand visitors. But, isn't that what John Chow did. Then a week later the two people who signed up for it are laughing at the fifty-fifty chance at your free prize. The funny part is that you had to tell your mom that she can't enter. Now, you have alienated one third of your subscriber base already. One thing that helped me was that I found contest blogger. It's a great site that features blogs and their contests. It's one of those great sites. After you are done visiting, you kick yourself for not thinking of it first.
